Mangaluru: A Thank You Meet was held at Hotel Ocean Pearl Inn, Kapikad in City on Saturday September 25. The meet was organised to celebrate Spearhead Media Group’s proud achievement of being conferred with prestigious All India Chanakya Award by Public Relations Council of India (PRCI). It is joyous that the Group wins this laurel on its decennial year celebration of its service to society and media industry.
Brian Fernandes, Director, Spearhead Media Group in his welcome address and prefatory remarks noting that winning Chanakya Award – Media House of the Year 2021 by the group is a privileged achievement, said “This I attribute to the group winning hearts of our readers.” Further, he asked for the support of one and all.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Konkani Cultural Organisation (KCO), Abu Dhabi President and Al Mazroui & Clevy Automobiles, Abu Dhabi Managing Director Leo Rodrigues said that it is a happy coincidence that the Chanakya Award has been received by the group during its decennial year. He lauded the group’s integrity and loyalty which it has adhered to since the time of its inception. The group’s highlight is its diverse products and dissemination of news to Kannadigas all over the world. What is truly laudable among the various attributes is that their willingness to take constructive feedback from one and all, he added.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Bank of Baroda General Manager and Zonal Head, Mangaluru Zone Ghayathri R. said that nothing is greater than recognising someone’s contribution and by organising this meet Spearhead Media Group is doing just that which is appreciable. Press is mightier than the sword and it is said rightly that press is the fourth estate. She also lauded the Group for its endeavour of disseminating positive news sincerely over the years.
Spearhead Media Group Mentor and Advisor CA Valerian Dalmaida said that the award belongs to whole of Mangaluru. He also noted that the award is the result of diverse approach by the Media Group to reach the society. The Group aims to bring marginalised section of the society into mainstream, which is also what the media has to actually do instead of just creating sensationalism, he emphasised.

PRCI Chairman and Swastika Charitable Trust Chairman Dr. Raghavendra Holla said that on PRCI Mangaluru chapter’s recommendation the Media Group was nominated for the award and its winning the award wherein 14 states’ representatives were vying for the same is commendable.
Rtn. Yathish Baikampady said that the group is not just a media conglomerate but also keenly participates in social service activities. He specially mentioned the Group’s selfless contribution during various vaccination drives in the City.
Event Organiser Satish Bolar, Vishwas Caterers, Mangaluru lauded the Group as being one of the most selfless media houses, which was contributing greatly to the society.
Spearhead Media Group Director Canute J. Pinto delivered the vote of thanks. He extended gratitude to various stakeholders and supporters of the Media Group since its inception, and expressed that the Media Group was fortunate to get supporters from the time it was relatively new to the industry.

Congratulating the Media Group on bagging the Chanakya Award, UAE Tulukoota President Sarvottam Shetty said that the Media Group has brought together the people of Tulunadu in the ways one cannot imagine. My relationship with the Group is a decade-old and I have seen teh Group strive to make culture and art activities undertaken abroad to every home in the coastal region. The Media Group has treated all languages ranging from Tulu, Kannada, Beary to Konkani etc. equally and promoted them equally, he added.
