Mangaluru: Bondala Jagannatha Shetty Memorial Government high school, located in the Bantwal Block of Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka, is a model government educational institution. Such a concept was pioneered by Late Bondala Jagannatha Shetty, a youth leader then. It was his initiative to start this school in 2003. He adopted this school for development. He was the first to embody a new adoption scheme in the state on his part. He laid a strong foundation to this school by providing all the required infrastructure in those days with the support of the government and local education fans. This move inspired the adoption of many schools in different parts of the state.
After his sad demise in 2012, his elder brother Sri Sachidananda Shetty took over the responsibility of this school and continued his work of developing this school through a trust bearing the name ‘Bondala Charitable Trust’. He has been leading the school and today this school has turned into a model school. He provided ample support and encouragement for all round development as well as academic and extra-curricular activities. Every year more and more students are attracted to this school. The local organizations are giving a helping hand to the school under the concept “We Are for the School”.
Boasting of many firsts:
If it is the first adopt a government school in the history of education then it has the distinction of being the first government school to install CCTV Camera coverage in the entire school. High tech touch is given to Akshara Dasoha food preparation by installing steam. It is the first government school to become self sufficient in generating complete solar power and supplying it to the grid. Bio matric for staff attendance is installed. Currently 243 students are studying in this school.
A beautiful hall by name Annapoorna used for providing for having mid day meals for students. Education is imparted through multimedia. Intercom system is installed in classrooms. The well equipped function hall has a good sound system. The school has a good library and science lab for the use of the students. The students are participating in both intra and inter school competitions conducted by various organizations and bagging prizes.
After 10 Years for Acceptance, the educational institution is boasting many firsts.

Organizing with the help of staff, parents and students of Bondala Jagannatha Shetty Memorial Government High school is well on its way to development. All facilities required by the institution have been provided in the last 10 years of adoption. Further, the students need a well equipped stadium/ playground and the government has already reserved the land for it. Once this is the case, it will be helpful to our students to shine both in state and national level sports activities. If more freedom and powers are given to the S D M C , there is no doubt the government schools will provide quality education and thereby help the government to fulfill its educational goals.
