MAHE, Rotary Manipal felicitate AKS Rtn Dr Vasanth Prabhu

Manipal: Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Rotary Club Manipal Town felicitated AKS Rtn Dr Vasanth Prabhu for his contribution towards establishing a skin bank at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. MAHE Pro-Chancellor Dr H S Ballal reflected on the long-term association with Dr Prabhu and appreciated his immense contributions to society through the Rotary Foundation. He has assured MAHE’s matching grant to all Rotary Club projects at MAHE.Dr Ballal noted that this felicitation is happening as we celebrate 69 years of KMC’s establishment.

MAHE Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. Dr MD Venkatesh profusely thanked Dr Prabhu for his generous donations to the skin bank and assured all support from MAHE to make this one of the most successful skin banks in India. Skin Bank Head Dr N C Sreekumar gave an update on the status and operation of the skin bank. Assistant Governor of Rotary District 3182 Dr Suresh Shenoy introduced Dr Prabhu to the gathering.

Replying to the felicitation, Dr Prabhu thanked the Rotary-MAHE members and appreciated the matching grant contribution from MAHE to all the charitable activities implemented at MAHE. He narrated his involvement in the Rotary Foundation projects in different countries and the joy he gets from serving the needy. Dr Prabhu is a member of Arch Klumph Society, recognition for the highest tier donors of Rotary, who have contributed more than USD 250,000 in a lifetime.

Rtn. Dr D Sreedhar gave a brief about the objectives of the Rotary-MAHE child cancer fund. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between MAHE and Rotary Club Manipal Town Charitable Trust to establish an endowment fund at MAHE to treat the poor child cancer patients at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. A cheque for Rs 18.25 was handed over to MAHE which will be matched by MAHE.

PDG Rtn Rajaram Bhat, DGE Rtn Dev Anand, RCMT President Rtn Ganesh Nayak, RCMT Secretary Rtn Nityananda Nayak, RCMT Trust Chairman Rtn Dr Sesappa Rai, MAHE Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr MV Prabhu, Registrar Dr Narayana Sabhahit, and others were present during the felicitation function.

AGE Rtn Ramachandra Upadhyaya briefly explained the upcoming Rotary projects highlighting the tissue and organ donation project. KMC Dean Dr Sharath Rao proposed the vote of thanks, and Rtn Dr Raviraja N S and Rtn Hilda Cornelio conducted the program.
