Bachchan Yugadi treat for Sudeep fan

The much anticipated Bachchan is in theatres now throughout the State.  The film, all set to be a super hit, is a Yugadi treat for the fans of Sudeep.  Director Shashank who gave love stories like Sixer, Moggina Manassu and Krishnan Love Story had to accept defeat when he made the action-oriented Jarasandha. But Shashank has risen as a phoenix this time with the action-thriller Bachchan.

The film opens with police chasing Bharat alias Bachchan like in Maina.  He is caught for murdering Deshpande (Ashish Vidyarthi) and Dr Iyyengar (Nassar). Special officer Jagapati Babu investigates the case. Then starts the flashback.  The plot gets interesting with new twists and turns.  Sudeep whose character has three different shades has acted excellently. The first half ends with Sudeep revealing the reasons for the murder. The film does not evoke much curiosity until then, but the second half comes with another twist with the entry of Parul.  Parul’s acting is superb.

The director has touched upon paranoid schizophrenia, a subject in psychology. The second half keeps the audience at the edge of their seat.  Bhavana appears towards the end as Dr Anjali.  Dr Anjali, a medical student is the love interest of Sudeep.  She sacrifices her life exposing illegal mining on the border of Ramadevaragudda in Bellary and its ill effects on the health of the people.  Bachchan kills those who kill his lover. Jagapati Raju, at the end, says, whatever Bachchan has done is wrong before the law of the land, but it’s good for society. Thus a happy ending.

Sudeep succeeds winning the hearts of the people through his acting. Shashank has directed well.  Cinematographer Shekharchandra has captured the scenes very well. Music of Harikrishna too is good. A couple of songs haunt the audience for quite a sometime. Bhavana, though doesn’t have much screen time, has justified the role.  The comedy of Bullet Prakash and Sadhu Kokila is not bad. Tulip Joshy, Sudha Belavadi, Jai Jagadish, Ramakrishna, Padmaja Rao, Achyuth, Ravi Shankar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Nassar and Shruthi have neatly executed their respective roles.

The main drawback of the movie is the climax at the beginning.  The film progresses with new twists and turns throughout but does not leave the audience guessing the end. That apart, the film is a super hit. Bachchan is a festive offer on the occasion of Yugadi.
