Father of Bengaluru techie vows to withhold last rites until justice is served
The father of 34-year-old tech Atul Subhash, who died by suicide on December 9 in Bengaluru, has demanded strict action against those he holds responsible for his son’s death. He also sought custody of his four-year-old grandson, emphasizing that his son’s ashes will remain unimmersed until justice is delivered.
Subhash was found dead at his Munnekolalu residence, leaving emotional video messages and a detailed suicide note accusing his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family of mental harassment and false allegations. He also requested that his parents be granted custody of his child.
Expressing gratitude to the Karnataka Police for the swift arrests of Nikita, her mother, and brother, Subhash’s father, Pawan Kumar, stated, “My son endured unimaginable pain—humiliated, harassed, and exploited for money. His tormentors must face justice for his soul to find peace.”
The estranged wife, Nikita, was arrested in Gurugram, Haryana, while her family members were apprehended in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The arrests followed widespread public outrage and a police complaint filed by Subhash’s brother, Bikas Kumar.
Bikas also demanded the withdrawal of “false cases” filed against their family, asserting, “We will not immerse my brother’s ashes until all those responsible face the law. Our fight for justice will continue.”
This tragic incident highlights the growing need for addressing mental health and family disputes through legal and social interventions.
