Kalaburagi: Restrictions under section 144 of the CrPC that were imposed in the Kalaburagi district, will continue till May 7. District Deputy Commissioner Sharat B said that this measure was being taken to arrest the spread of the coronavirus in the area.

Only those providing essential services are exempted from these restrictions, he added.

Speaking to ANI, the DC said, “The imposition of Section 144 Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been extended till May 7, 2020. There is no restriction on the movement of people rendering or availing essential services.”

The district has reported 52 COVID-19 cases so far. Seven of the patients have been discharged after making a full recovery and five people have lost their lives to the disease.

It can be recalled that the first death in India, due to the novel coronavirus, was reported from Kalaburagi. This district is also one of the hotspots identified by the Central Government.
