November and December is the onset season of weddings, festivities, vacation and parties. It’s the time let your hair down and enjoy with your friends and family.

But as the season changes, few modifications are needed to protect your hair and skin against the harsh weather although as the city’s weather depends upon the tropical climate of the region still it is normally cool.

Thus a few basic tips if followed can work wonders to make you look your best this winter.

Lukewarm

Winter is the time when your skin and hair needs maximum attention. Though the idea of piping hot water is very tempting, it is ideal to stick to a lukewarm water bath every day. Make sure to use a mild non-drying soap or a moisturizing soap.

Moisturize

A moisturizer around the year works amazingly but during winter it’s the most essential. Choose a really good moisturizer to keep the skin moisturized and soft. Pay special attention to the exposed parts like your hands, nails, feet and lips; use a lip balm to keep your lips soft and supple. Your hair also needs to be moisturized, invest in a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, and include a hair mask into your weekly hair care routine for example: plain curd can be left over-night, apart from that  always remember to towel dry your hair first to rid of any excess water.

Sunscreen

In a tropical city, a sunscreen is an essential all the time due to the uncertain change in the weather, when you step out in the open remember to use a sunscreen likewise a head gear or a bandana around your hair is perfect while you traveling.

Oil

Right from the time your grandmother taught you to oil, oiling your hair as well as skin is good during winter. Oil your hair with coconut oil and keep it over night, if you have a time constrain a light version of Aragn Oil is a great product to use during cold spells as they moisturize your hair instantly. Olive oil or almond oil will enrich your skin, 30 minutes before you bathe oiling your body is appropriate.

Allergies

Dry and cold weather makes you more prone to sickness, allergies and hair problems. If you keep your skin supple or moisturized allergies can stay away, but if extra care is taken there no harm. Have a Neem bath, add neem leaves and keep it for a while in the water you bathe or you can use turmeric based soap as well. Another factor is dandruff which is typically associated with dry and itchy scalp ‘hot oil with lemon’ therapy at least once a week to get rid of dandruff.

Style wisely

It is better to opt for suitable clothing during winter; cotton is fine as per the tropical region but its best to carry a woolen stroll or a scarf. Full length clothes are the best option during winter.  Contradictory while woolen caps, scarves and stoles may make a style statement, it can also be the cause of hair breakage especially at the nape of your neck or forehead. Don’t try to be over-protective by wearing them tightly around your head. Leave sufficient space for air circulation in the scalp. Say no to hair dryers/ flat irons/ curl irons. Hair styling instruments work on the heat principle, using these during winters can make matters worse. Instead use the cool setting of the dryer which though may take longer to dry but it would retain the moisture. Choose wooden hair brushes or combs instead of plastic.

Hope you are going to have an awesome winter with these tips!
