Here’s wishing you a fashion perfect Holi

Mumbai: Who says playing Holi is about putting on a worn-out T-shirt and tying your tresses in a boring bun? After you have selected that mid-riff baring crop top and a cool pair of shorts to go with it, it’s time to jazz up your look by picking a quirky accessory that adds dollop of fun to your look.

You can style a colourful headwrap that will not only make a fashion statement but also shield your hair from chemicals when you play Holi. All you need is a bright, printed dupatta that you can tie in various styles. You can also wear ethnic Sindhi caps or straw hats that you bought on your last beachy trip. For some serious flower power, style your mane with fresh flowers. And if you have jewellery on your mind, skip those heavy pieces and stick to feather-light floral jewellery that you can style yourself with flowers bought from the local phoolwallah. You can also go for stick-on jewellery which is a hot trend this season. Here’s some runway inspiration to glam up the festival of colours.

*Step up your hair game by going for a no-fuss top knot or tie back your oiled hair in a bow bun that will stay in place even as you indulge in some serious dance floor antics. You can also add funk to your look by going for one-time-use, stick-on maangtikas.

Step up your hair. Steal the look from models at Malini Ramani (1st from left) and Poonam Dubey (2nd from left) runways… Don a cap. Pick some styling inspiration from designers Tanvi Kedia (1st from right) and Hemant-Nandita (2nd from right)

*Add a fun element to your look by wearing a Sindhi cap in a bright hue. It will protect your hair and give an ethnic spin to your look. You can also flaunt your straw hat and cool sunnies to look cool as well as safeguard your eyes and hair.

*Play the turbanator this Holi. If you dread the damage the colours will cause to your beautiful locks, cover them up with a printed turban. Not only will it act as a shield against chemicals, it will up your style game, too. Finish your look with round, tinted sunglasses and red lips, and you are good to go. Take some style cue from this model in designer Tarun Tahiliani’s creation.

*As you get ready to take on the world with pichkaris and gulals, rock some fuss-free bling on your hands with jewelled tattoos. Buy or order these stick-on sheets which come in different designs and colours, and let your hands do all the talking. Fulfill your tattoo fetish with these temporary ones this Holi.

*Make a bun or braid your hair and add some floral magic. Wear a flower tiara as seen on Paras and Shalini’s runway or take a cue from Nida Mahmood’s show and pin-up big roses on either side of your face. You can also wrap a gajra on your messy bun.

*Tie a bright-hued scarf with a bow in the front or wear a beaded or printed hair band to keep your hair in place.
