Hebbalkar Inspires Youth Congress: “Your Energy Will Drive Party to Power”
Udupi: Minister for Women and Child Development and Udupi District In-charge Lakshmi Hebbalkar praised the commitment of young Congress members, stating that their dedication alone is enough to bring the Congress party back to power in Karnataka.
At the swearing-in ceremony of the new Youth Congress office-bearers in Byndoor, the minister emphasized that Congress is the voice of the underprivileged. “We are a party that stands with the poor and works for their upliftment,” she said.
Reflecting on the legacy of the Gandhi family, Hebbalkar noted, “Two of the three Prime Ministers from the Gandhi family laid down their lives for the country. Rahul Gandhi could’ve taken power in 2004, but chose a different path. And Jawaharlal Nehru, though born wealthy, gave his life to nation-building.”
Urging young party workers to immerse themselves in grassroots organizing, she recalled her own journey—starting as a booth and counting agent. “It was my work for the party that earned me a ticket. Today, I stand as the only woman minister in the cabinet, thanks to the opportunity given by CM Siddaramaiah,” she said.
Former MLA Gopal Poojary expressed continued solidarity with the party, affirming his ongoing connection with the constituency and the people despite his electoral loss.
The leadership baton was formally passed as Shekhar Poojary handed over responsibilities to the newly appointed Bharat Devadiga.
