Hindu Community in Rawalpindi Celebrates Holi with Joy
Rawalpindi: The Hindu community gathered on Thursday to celebrate Holi, the vibrant festival of colours, at Krishna Temple in Saddar. Over 50 families participated in the festivities, which were led by Priest Jai Ram. The temple echoed with prayers dedicated to Krishna, Ram, Durga, and Hanuman, marking the beginning of the celebrations.
Both young and old joined in the tradition of splashing colours on each other, symbolizing joy and unity. After the religious rituals, attendees shared sweets and fruits, reinforcing the festival’s spirit of brotherhood. The community also offered prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan and its people, hoping Holi would bring peace and harmony.
Sardar Heera, Chairman of the Pakistan Hindu-Sikh Social Welfare Council, highlighted a unique tradition this year—hanging an earthen pot filled with colours, inspired by Lord Krishna’s way of celebrating Holi. He emphasized that throwing colours signifies the arrival of spring and the removal of differences.
Priest Jai Ram explained Holi’s symbolic meaning, narrating the legend of Prahlad and Holika, which represents the victory of good over evil. He also shared how the festival is associated with Radha and Krishna, who played with colours as an expression of love and celebration.
