Honda Retires CD 110 Dream Amid Falling Sales and Fierce Rivalry
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially ended the production of its entry-level commuter, CD 110 Dream, marking the departure of one of the brand’s most affordable models. While it may appear that Honda is retreating from the budget commuter space, the company remains active in the segment with the continued sale of the Shine 100.
The CD 110 Dream’s exit is largely due to its declining popularity. Sales, which stood at 8,511 units in October 2024, dropped drastically to just 33 units by March 2025. Despite its functional features and economical price, the bike failed to retain market interest in an increasingly crowded commuter segment.
The motorcycle was powered by a 109.51cc air-cooled engine, delivering 8.6 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 9.3 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. It met OBD2 norms and was compatible with E20 fuel. Notable features included a two-way engine start/stop switch and Combi-Brake System (CBS) for enhanced braking safety.
Built on a diamond frame, it used telescopic forks up front and dual shock absorbers at the back, supported by 5-spoke silver alloy wheels and drum brakes on both ends. A long 720 mm seat integrated with the fuel tank offered comfort for rider and pillion.
However, the Shine 100, priced around ₹10,000 lower at ₹61,915 (ex-showroom Delhi), lured buyers away. Its 98.98cc engine delivers 5.3 bhp and 8.05 Nm, with 17-inch alloys and efficient drum brakes, effectively overshadowing its elder sibling.
