Hubballi: The world’s biggest platform is coming up at the Hubballi Railway Station and is being built by the South Western Railway.
According to SWR Public Relation Officer (PRO) E Vijaya, the Hubballi Railway platform is currently 550 metres long and will be expanded to 1,400 meters. “The work will be completed in a year,” she said.
The project is estimated to cost Rs.90 crores and once it is completed, more trains can be operated from this railway station, which is now witnessing rapid progress.
Presently, the Gorakhpur Railway Station holds the distinction of having the longest platform in the world with 1,366 metres, she added.
