
Illegal tree felling: forest officials seize wooden logs in Shankaranarayana
Officials from the Shankaranarayana Forest Department confiscated teak and mango wooden logs, along with associated equipment, on December 2. The items were illicitly harvested from government land in Agrabail.
The seizure included logs, a truck, a crane, and two motorbikes, with an estimated total value of ₹40 lakh. The accused fled the scene during the raid.
The operation was carried out under the direction of DFO Ganapati and ACF Prakash Poojary, with a team led by Shankaranarayana Zonal Forest Officer Jyoti. Key personnel involved included DRFO K. C. Mathew, and staff members Zahir Abbas, Prashant, Krishnamurthy Hebbar, Ravi Adiga, Shekhar Kulal, and Bhaskar Kottary.
A case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana Zone Forest Office, and investigations are ongoing.
