Prakasam: Inspite of various amends to the relevant laws and awareness campaigns on rape, the country is still not healed of the disease of ‘Rape.’ Another shameful incident has come to light in the neighbouring state of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh.

While a nation looks up to its armed forces with reverence, here is one former soldier from the Indian Army who has shamed his position in Giddalur town of the district.

Surendra (24), who was disqualified from the armed forces for being ‘unfit’ has raped a minor girl.

Surendra befriended this minor and got her addicted to alcohol.

Taking advantage of her inebriation, Surendra has repeatedly raped her for days together in his house. Later, he also went to the extent of inviting his friends to rape her.

Even on her birthday, Surendra had called her to his house and raped her repeatedly with his friends. But the minor never opened her mouth about this. It is yet to be ascertained why she was quiet on the incident.

It came to light when her family members observed a change in her behaviour.

Immediately, the family filed a complaint in the nearby police station. In a swift action, the police registered a complaint under the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences), spoke to the minor and gathered all the necessary information.

Based on her statement, six accused have been arrested and three others are absconding.

The police have launched a hunt for the absconding three.
