New Delhi: The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Shahi Imam Ahmed Bukhari has welcomed the apex court judgement on the Ayodhya title suit, and said he does not agree with the All India Muslim Personal Law Board which said it may file a review petition on the verdict.

The Shahi Imam, speaking to the media, said “We have been consistently saying that we will accept the Supreme Court verdict. Regarding filing of a review petition, I do not agree on that. I think and hope the country will move forward towards development.”

The Sunni Central Waqf Board too has said it will not file a review of the Supreme Court verdict or file a curative petition in the Ayodhya case.

Sunni Waqf Board chairman Zafar Faruqui said the board was “grateful” to the Supreme Court for setting aside as “erroneous” the observation of one of the judges of the Allahabad High Court in 2010 which diluted the provision of the Places of Worship Act 1991.

The Ayodhya verdict delivered on Saturday has given the disputed land to Ram Lalla, and said the Sunni Waqf Board be given five acres of alternate land for a mosque in Ayodhya.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has said that after studying the judgement the board may file review petition. Board Executive member Kamal Farooqui said that this judgement is not based on facts but faith.
