Patna: The ruling NDA has surged ahead of the opposition alliance of Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress and Left parties, moving past the half-way mark in a nail-biting fight for Bihar’s 243 seats.

The initial trends had shown the ‘Mahaghatbandhan’ or the Grand Alliance ahead of the NDA. However, the trends started to m ake a shift and now the NDA has taken a massive lead.

The ruling NDA is leading in 128 seats and the opposition alliance at 99 seats, in Bihar Election Results. The RJD is ahead in 67 seats, the Congress in 21 and the Left parties in 9 seats.

The Lok Janashakti Party, which is leading on less than 10 seats, was expected to eat into the JDU votes and give an upper hand to the BJP.

Despite being a part of the NDA, incumbent CM Nitish Kumar’ JDU put up a poor show in the polls.

JDU leader KC Tyagi said: “LJP has tried to spoil CM Nitish Kumar’s image in Bihar. The Covid-19 pandemic has also had its own impact in the Bihar assembly elections. The Bihar assembly election 2020 was happening in very difficult circumstances. The migration issue also had its own impact on the results.”

The BJP is leading in 72 seats, the JDU in 47. The LJP is leading in 7 seats.
