Acclimatizing to the new normal, India’s biggest automobile art festival—Cartist 2020 has chosen to celebrate its annual automobile art festival online this year.
The theme of the festival will primarily focus on the theme of sustainability and will showcase work from artists across the country who use automobiles as a mould for their art.
The four-day-long festival will begin on 27th November with more than 100 artists who have registered to make live artworks and support the idea of a sustainable way of living. The Cartist Festival will also feature 20 unique workshops by expert artists as a part of “Learn with Cartist” wherefrom one will be able to learn the intricacies of art forms like Madhubani, tribal art from Gond, calligraphy, water-colour painting etc, all from the comfort of their home.
Cartist will be curating an online exhibition displaying the unique creations of artists from different parts of the country. Visual artists like Priyanka and Renu Bala will make live art installations in their respective cities on the theme of sustainability. Priyanka will be artifying bicycles along with a group of girls from the slum areas of Mumbai, and Renu Bala from Pathankot will be creating a live art installation to throw light on discontinuing the Parali practice to reduce environmental damage.
This year’s Cartist festival will also feature popular bands like Daira Band, Fuzz Culture, Vikalp Sharma, and Yusuf Khan Bapang for some sensational performances and musical indulgence.
There will also be talk sessions featuring eminent artists and experts from the automobile industry to throw light upon the sustainable practices that can be adopted by the people and ways to emulate it in the form of art.
Some of the notable names contributing to the sessions are Nikunj Sanghi, an Automobile industry veteran who has been vocal about the issues related to the industry and Chairman of ASDC; Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM; Anil Saini head of Automobile Design Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Cartist will also host sessions with prominent artists like Padma Shri Shakir Ali (miniature painting artist), Vinay Sharma, Veer Munshi, Vicky Roy, Wajit Khan and many more.
Licypriya Kangujam, the nine-year-old Indian climate activist will also be participating in one of the sessions as a key speaker. She has been championing the cause since six-years-old to protect, preserve and nurture our environment by fighting climate change.
