New Delhi: Amidst panic and rumours over the coronavirus outbreak, the Central government has come up with a unique initiative to create awareness among the public about the infection. Caller tunes on networks operated by BSNL and Jio are being used to reach out to the people.
Informing about the coronavirus, the caller tune urges people to maintain normal hygiene practices such as frequently washing hands to prevent the virus from spreading. It also advices people to stay away from coughing or sneezing individuals and to get themselves screened at a nearby healthcare facility if they display any COVID-19 symptoms.
It can be recalled that Prime Minister Modi had requested people to greet each other with ‘namaste’ as shaking each other’s hands may cause the virus to spread.
He said, “The world uses Namaste to greet each other. We should also follow the same. It is better to avoid handshakes and greet everyone with Namaste.”
Currently, over 31 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported from India and the disease has led to the deaths of 3,200 people worldwide.
