New Delhi: A decomposing body was found in a Noida flat on Sunday, October 14 morning, identified as that of journalist Babita Basu, 52. She was said to be on dialysis and had died three weeks ago. Her flat was on the 16th floor and she had been living in it for well over a year.
Her death was discovered by her landlord when he had come to her flat to renegotiate their rental agreement as she was not responding to his repeated calls. When he reached the apartment, he got a foul smell and immediately called Basu’s son.
Basu’s son was also trying to get in contact with her and requested the landlord to meet with her. He was returning from Bengaluru when he got the phone call from the landlord concerning the foul smell.
The flat’s door was broken open in the presence of the police. When the neighbours were inquired about the same, they seemed clueless as her apartment was at the end of the corridor.
Prior to her death, Basu used to work with the Times of India and was suffering from a kidney ailment.
