Hyderabad: A Delhi man has stirred a spirited online debate after posting a viral Instagram video in which he declared Hyderabad the best city among India’s major metros — Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The man, identified as Kevin Sam (@samoldkevin), shared his enthusiastic review just hours after landing in the city, and his bold comparisons have since triggered a flood of reactions from across the country.

“Hyderabad is the best city”: Kevin’s first impression

In the video, Sam speaks directly to the camera while exploring Hyderabad’s streets. He begins by acknowledging that his opinion may ruffle feathers. “Many people will get offended and many will even abuse me, but among Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, which is the best city? I think I’ve finally found the answer. The answer is Hyderabad, dude. It is such an underrated city,” he says.

What makes his claim more striking is that he had spent only a few hours in the city before forming his verdict. “I landed here about four hours back and I’m already in love with this city, dude. Being a Delhiite and also I’ve been to the other two, there is no competition, dude,” he adds.

Why Hyderabad stood out to him

Sam goes on to list the reasons behind his immediate admiration for the city. He claims Hyderabad offers a mix of advantages that set it apart from the other metros he has lived in or visited.

According to him:

  • “There is no traffic”
  • “The roads are genuinely better than Bengaluru”
  • “It is clean — so that already beats Mumbai”
  • “Most importantly, I can actually breathe here which beats Delhi”
  • “Also, the food is good. Bonus point.”

His light-hearted yet candid assessment resonated with many viewers, particularly those familiar with Hyderabad’s infrastructure and food scene.

Internet reacts to the comparison

The video has generated hundreds of comments, sparking a city-versus-city debate that Indians often enjoy indulging in. Many Hyderabad residents appreciated the praise, while others from different cities chimed in with their own experiences.

One Instagram user commented, “No doubt Hyderabad is best city to live in India and food,” while another said, “Hyderabad has always been underrated but people are slowly waking up.”

A Bengaluru resident added a familiar complaint: “Bengaluru roads losing to Hyderabad is not shocking at all.”

Several viewers agreed with Sam’s claim, highlighting their own recent visits. “I visited Hyderabad in September and I fell in love with the city, everything is so well organised,” one person wrote. Another user playfully noted, “Mumbai and Delhi fans are not going to like this.”

Many wholeheartedly endorsed his bonus point too — “The food alone is enough to declare Hyderabad the winner,” a viewer joked.

A debate that shows no signs of cooling

Sam captioned his video with the line “I found the better one,” adding fuel to the ongoing inter-city rivalry. While the debate remains subjective, the viral clip has certainly revived conversations about urban quality of life, infrastructure, traffic conditions, and — unsurprisingly — food.

Hyderabad, often praised for its balance of modernity and affordability, appears to have earned another fan in Kevin Sam, whose video continues to circulate widely.
