Delhi Experiences Light Rain, More Showers Expected Today

Early on Sunday morning, sections of the nation’s capital witnessed rain. There were new showers in areas like Central Delhi, RK Puram, Indraprastha, Mandi House, and Kartavya Path.

On Saturday morning, Delhi also experienced an abrupt shift in the weather. Strong winds and light rain fell on Saturday morning in a number of Delhi neighborhoods, including Janpath, RK Puram, India Gate, and Greater Kailash.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light to moderate rainfall that was scattered to fairly widespread on Saturday, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.

“Severe Weather Observed over Northwest India during 0830 hrs IST to 2030 hrs IST of yesterday, the 02nd March 2024,” IMD posted on X.

According to the IMD, a trough extends from this cyclonic circulation in lower and middle tropospheric levels to the Northwest Arabian Sea. The western disturbance is positioned over north Afghanistan and its surrounding areas. Furthermore, it stated that high moisture feeding is occurring and is expected to continue until March 3 from the Arabian Sea to northwest India.

According to IMD, on Saturday, there were isolated locations over Delhi, Chandigarh, and Haryana where the minimum temperature deviated above normal.

Further, the Met Department said that no significant change in minimum temperatures is very likely over northwest India during the next three days and will fall by 3-5 degrees Celsius thereafter.

Also, IMD has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall or snowfall is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.
