Hyderabad: A woman sustained serious injuries on Saturday morning after a BMW car driven by an allegedly drunk driver crashed into two cars and a motorcycle near My Home Avatar Circle under the Narsingi police station limits.

The incident occurred around 8.45 am, according to the complainant Paila Govindu, who was travelling towards Bandlaguda Jagir when his car was struck by the speeding BMW.

Govindu said he had stopped at a traffic signal when the luxury car suddenly rammed into his vehicle from behind, also hitting another car and a bike. The impact caused significant damage to all three vehicles and left a woman, who was riding pillion on the bike, severely injured.

Driver fled the scene after crash

Eyewitnesses told police that the BMW driver abandoned the vehicle and fled immediately after the collision.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding driver and are reviewing CCTV footage from cameras near the junction to identify the suspect.

Officials added that the damaged vehicles have been moved off the road to ensure smooth traffic flow. The injured woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable.

Case registered under multiple sections

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Motor Vehicles Act, including rash and negligent driving and causing hurt by endangering life or personal safety.

Narsingi Police Inspector said, “We have identified the owner of the BMW. The accused driver was reportedly intoxicated. Efforts are on to apprehend him.”

The incident once again highlights the growing menace of drunken driving in Hyderabad, particularly involving high-end vehicles.
