New Delhi: A moderate earthquake in Afghanistan was felt across South Asia on Monday, with tremors felt in in Kabul, Islamabad, New Delhi and Srinagar, witnesses said.
The epicenter of the magnitude 6 quake was 88 kilometers from Feyzabad in Afghanistan, at a depth of 209 kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The tremors shook several buildings in Delhi, according to Reuters. People ran out of their buildings following the tremors.
Tremors felt in Kashmir, Pakistan:
The strong tremor earthquake jolted various parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Kashmir valley.It was not immediately known if the earthquake caused any damage.
Pakistan Meteorological Department, according to an online portal News Tribe, said that strong tremors were felt in Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Batkhaila, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Chitral besides capital Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
