Umiya campus manager Manubhai Patel filed an FIR accusing Hardik and his close aides Chirag, Mahesh, Dinesh and Arvind of entering the campus without permission and creating a “ruckus.”

Patel, convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) that has launched a State-wide agitation demanding reservation for the economically influential Patel community in government jobs and educational institutions, and his associates wanted to hold a meeting at the campus to decide their next move.

Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel and a mob of around 100 people entered the Umiya Campus on Thursday, held a meeting and created a ruckus, according to a police complaint filed by the manager of Umiya campus here. “The complaint has been registered in the Sola police station,” a police official told The Hindu.

Interestingly, Lalji Patel, head of Sardar Patel Group (SPG) that was also part of the agitation that organised a mammoth rally in Ahmedabad on August 25, announced on Thursday that his outfit would continue the agitation seeking quota separately.

Lalji Patel said the SPG would hold a condolence meeting for those who were killed in the unrest on Sunday. “This is not an individual fight. It’s about our community,” Patel said, indicating differences with Hardik Patel.
