New Delhi: On October 18, a French exchange programme student had levelled sexual harassment charges against the father of the student who was hosting her in Delhi at that time. An FIR has been filed under the stringent child sexual offences act against the host’s father.
According to reports, the French national in her statement revealed that the host father, a 55-year-old man sexually assaulted her when they were alone in the family’s apartment in South Delhi’s Saket neighbourhood. She explained that the incident took place in her room when she was packing for her Jaipur trip and forcibly placed her hand between his legs and hugged her for an uncomfortably long duration against her wishes.
She says that she has suffered great trauma from the incident and that she had confessed to her friends regarding the matter in the bus while they were travelling to Jaipur. Her friends who saw her suffer reported the matter to their teacher, who then contacted her parents and the French embassy.
The French student has been attached to another family for the rest of her trip.
Previously, the French national’s host had visited France on a similar programme and similarly stayed with the former at her residence. The French student arrived at Delhi for the corresponding programme on October 13.
