I am only doing God’s work: Pakistani terrorist Naved

New Delhi: Making his first confession on camera, captured Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Naved Yakub has told the security forces he entered the Indian territory 12 days ago from Pakistan and that the only other partner he had was killed by the Indian Army, a claim rejected by the BSF which says at least two others are still at large.

Naved alias Usman, 20, suspected to be a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, was captured alive following an intense encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district in which at least two BSF jawans were killed and 11 others injured. He had earlier claimed his name was Kasim Khan.

“I came to exact my revenge. I am only doing God’s work,” Naved told his handlers. He could also be seen asking for food from the soldiers who interrogated him.

Naved was nabbed after militants attacked a BSF convoy on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur. He had taken three persons hostage in a school building in a nearby hamlet, from where he was arrested after an operation was launched by the army and the police. All the hostages have been freed and the operation has ended.

“One terrorist has been killed,” Home Minister Rajnath Singh said in Delhi, adding that there was no link between the attack and the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims passing the area. He offered condolences to the families of the jawans identified as constables Rocky and Shubhendu Roy who died in the attack even as he spoke to BSF chief DK Pathak about the incident.

The militant strike was the first in Udhampur district in over a decade coming days after terrorists attacked Dinanagar Police Station in Gurdaspur in Punjab.
