Itna sannata kyu hai Bhai! Shiva Sena takes dig at ‘friend’ BJP in ‘Sholay’ style

udhav mainMumbai: While a sense of discomfort is cropping up between the BJP and the Shiv Sena over the seat matrix in Maharashtra, the Sena, on Monday took a swipe at the BJP-led central government in a filmy style.
The Sena sought an answer from the centre as to why such silence prevailed in the markets on the glorious occasion of Diwali, owing to the economic crisis.

“Itna Sannata kyon hai Bhai?” (Why is there so much silence?), an editorial in Shiva Sena’s mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ recalled the iconic lines from Bollywood cult film ‘Sholay’. The lines are delivered by a character in the film when the villagers silently watch the dead body of his son laden on horse enter the village after the boy gets murdered by dreaded dacoit Gabbar Singh, the antagonist of the film.
The Sena used the same lines to question why there was a sense of gloom in the markets even during festivities and probed if worse days were in the waiting.
“Markets have lost shine as sales figures have dropped by 30 to 40 per cent due to the looming fear of slowdown. Industries are suffering while some manufacturing units have closed down, leading to joblessness,” the editorial read.
The editorial also spoke about the financial crisis, the plight of banks in India, the situation of the farmers etc.
On the political front, the BJP and the Sena are all set to enter into a coalition, but with the BJP’s tally slipping in the state in the recently held polls, the Sena pitched the idea of ‘equal seat sharing’ and has also demanded the post of CM to the young Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray, son of Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray. This has become a cause for discomfort between the ‘friends’.
In the recent polls to 288-member Assembly, the BJP won 105 seats, a loss of 17 seats compared to its 2014 tally. The Sena’s tally also came down to 56 seats from 63 in 2014
