New Delhi: JNU students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar who was arrested in a case of sedition and criminal conspiracy for holding an anti-national event inside the university premises, will be produced in a Delhi court today, February 15.

Earlier, on Friday, Kanhaiya was remanded to a three-day police custody by a Delhi court. Kanhaiya was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen where the police sought his custodial interrogation for five days to ascertain the alleged links of the accused persons, including those who are allegedly absconding, with terrorist groups.

The row over ‘anti-national’ activities in JNU further ignited with Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s claim that Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru had LeT’s founder Hafiz Saeed’s support.

Reacting to Singh’s claim, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said it is a “very serious charge” to level against the students and that the evidence must be shared with all.

It has been reported that CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has been threatened over phone calls which were directed to the CPI(M) office in Delhi. He has now said that the Home Minister has to come out and share the evidence he has with the country to back up his “serious allegation”.

CPI leader D Raja who claimed, on Saturday, that he has received calls carrying threats to his daughter, who is a student activist in the Jawaharlal Nehru University also demanded that the evidence be made public.
