Kottayam: The Kerala High Court now has seven women judges for the first time in its history. This comes after Justice Shoba Annamma Eapen assumed office on Wednesday May 18.
In a ceremony held at the Chief Justice’s Court, Justice Shoba Eapen, the daughter of former MLA Eapen Verghese, was sworn in as the Additional Judge of Kerala High Court. She is the fourth woman to be appointed to the High Court Bar as a judge.
With this, seven of the High Court’s 38 judges are women. Justices Anu Sivaraman, Sophy Thomas, V. Shircy, Shoba Annamma Eapen, M. R. Anitha, Mary Joseph, and C. S. Sudha now serve in the High Court of Kerala.

Eapen began her career in Law in Kochi Bar under Advocate A. B. Prabhu after graduating from Ernakulam Law College in 1991. She was also a top government prosecutor under the UDF’s rule, from 2011 to 2016. She has also worked as a legal counsel for several private banks.
