Malgudi Days is a TV series that was aired on Doordarshan in 1986. Based on the works of R.K. Narayan, the series was directed by Shankar Nag. The show was revived in 2006 and was directed by Kavitha Lankesh. The story revolved around Swami and his friends, who roamed the streets of Malgudi because they hated going to school. The show portrayed the everyday mundane lives of people in a unique and attractive way, which is why the show is dear to many who grew up watching it.
Circus is the TV series that launched Shah Rukh Khan’s career and aired from 1989 till 1990. It was directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah. The series follows Shekharan (played by Shah Rukh Khan), a young man who is forced to take over the management of his father’s circus troupe and how he moves from feelings of displeasure to feelings of camaraderie with the troupe.
Bharat Ek Khoj is a TV series that is based on the book ‘The Discovery of India’ by Jawaharlal Nehru. It was written, directed and produced by Shyam Benegal along with V.K Murthy and aired on Doordarshan in 1988. Om Puri, Tom Alter Roshan Seth and Sadashiv Amrapurkar are some of the cast.
