Mumbai: Even as the Shiv Sena welcomed RSS head honcho Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks on construction of Ram Mandir during his lifetime and subsequently urged Bhagawat to announce a time frame within which the temple construction would commence, the Sena has also opined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the ‘courage’ to build the temple in Ayodhya and that his popularity will only shoot up by many folds if he takes the issue in his hands.
An editorial in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ opined that construction of Ram Mandir was necessary to prove that only minorities are not pampered by the government.
The editorial further read: “If a temple cannot be built there despite the bloodshed that happened over the issue, what about the hundreds of people who sacrificed their lives for the cause. This issue cannot be prolonged anymore. It needs to be finished now. The blood that has been shed over the issue should not be disrespected.”
