In a bizarre turn of events, train operations at Bihar’s Samastipur station were briefly disrupted due to a fight between two monkeys. The incident unfolded on the Barauni line near the eastern foot overbridge, leaving passengers both startled and entertained.
The scuffle began over a banana, leading one monkey to drop a piece of rubber onto the overhead electric wires. This caused a short circuit, with sparks flying and the electric line tripping. On receiving the alert, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) quickly notified the control room, and power to the overhead wires was cut to prevent further damage.
The Overhead Equipment (OHE) department responded promptly, restoring power and resuming train services around 9:30 am. The disruption, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, affected lines 4 through 14.
RPF Inspector Ved Prakash Verma, alongside his team, managed the scene, ensuring passenger safety by keeping them away from the affected area. Speaking later, Inspector Verma confirmed the monkey fight as the cause of the unusual disruption but assured that the situation was swiftly resolved.
The incident, though momentarily inconvenient, provided an unexpected spectacle for onlookers and highlighted the unpredictable challenges faced in railway operations.
