Mumbai floods, Shiv Sena blames media for showing city’s plight!

Mumbai: Mumbai is witnessing heavy rainfall, with the locals facing waterlogging in various parts of the city. The public transport system has come to a halt, with the Central and Western Railway suspending the train services due to waterlogging along the tracks. As many as 16 people were killed in separate rain-related incidents across the city. However, Shiv Sena in its editorial ‘Saamana’ has blamed the media for selectively showing Mumbai’s plight.

The editorial points that if rains pour continuously, water gets logged at low-lying areas, and at the same time, it gets drained too. “At the time of a heavy downpour, the 24X7 breaking news brigade reaches few low-lying areas. But the media never broadcasts how this city, which witnesses record-breaking rainfall every year, efficiently drains the waters and the hardwork of BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) workers put in to draining the water,” states Saamana.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra government has declared a holiday due to heavy rains, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appealed to people to not step out unless necessary. Reportedly, Mumbai witnessed 100 mm rainfall since Monday morning.
