New Delhi: Believe it or not, a source close to Congress Scion Rahul Gandhi has revealed that Gandhi is ready to even face imprisonment in connection to the National Herald Case.
As per the source, Gandhi on returning from Tamil Nadu, held a meeting with his ‘core’ group and directed his lawyer and party member Abhishekh Manu Singhvi to draft two bail bonds — one for his mother, Sonia Gandhi, and another for Motilal Vora, the party treasurer, both of whom, along with Rahul Gandhi, stand accused in the case. He categorically refused to have a bail bond done for him, saying: “Let’s be bold about this and highlight the vindictiveness of the government.”

The hearing of the National Herald Case will be up for hearing on December 19 and as per a senior Congress leader, the party has asked all the district presidents to assemble 2000 people for a ‘jail bharo’ protest on December 19, when the case will be heard in a Delhi court.

Later, after Parliament was adjourned, Rahul Gandhi, during the ‘briefing session’, asked Singhvi and senior leader Kapil Sibal to explain the National Herald case to the Congress MPs.

It is said that during the briefing most of the MPs questioned why the Gandhis did not move the Supreme Court over the issue, responding to which Sibal said that it was Rahul Gandhi who wanted to keep the matter in the lower court.
