New Delhi: With Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved coming under criticism for claiming that it has produced the first-ever Ayurvedic cure for COVID-19, company’s CEO Acharya Balakrishna, on Tuesday clarified that the firm never claimed that it can cure COVID-19 with its latest launch ‘Coronil’.
It was recently that the Ayurveda product giant Patanjali launched Coronil and close on the heels of the launch, the centre asked the firm to refrain from advertising the product.
The Ministry of Ayush had even asked Patanjali to provide details of the composition of the medicine and the research conducted.
Soon sources claimed that the firm had sought drug license for immunity booster, however, contrary to this, Baba Ramdev, while launching the prduct said it is the first ayurvedic cure for COVID-19.
Now, Patanjali CEO had refuted the claim and given a clarification.
“We never said the medicine (coronil) can cure or control corona, we said that we had made medicines and used them in clinical controlled trial which cured corona patients. There is no confusion in it,” Acharya Balkrishna, CEO Patanjali, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
It may be recalled that Baba Ramdev had said, after launching Coronil and Swasari that two trials of the medicines were conducted- first clinical controlled study, which took place in Delhi, Ahmedabad, among many other cities.
“Under this, 280 patients were included and 100 per cent of those recovered. We were able to control Corona and its complications in this. After this the all-important clinical control trial was conducted,” he had said.
