Patna: The Patna High Court, in true “fast and furious” fashion, made history by clearing 62,061 cases, since March of this year. Stunningly in November alone, it passed judgments on 1,489 cases and more amazingly, one judge single-handedly heard and delivered judgement on 300 cases.
After Chief Justice Rajendra Menon was assigned to the Patna High Court on March 15 of this year, he hasn’t taken a single leave and has been working enthusiastically to close the cases that have been kept pending in the court.
The court has been making great headway when it comes to clearing the caseload as it has been churning out judgments at an astonishing rate. On July 13 of this year, the court announced verdicts on 1266 cases; on September 21 it closed 1056; on October 17 it was 1189 and on November 9, it closed a massive 1489 cases.
In an impressive show of dedication, a one-judge-bench consisting of Justice Raviranjan heard 300 bail related cases and passed judgement on 289 of them. Only 11 cases are pending due to the advocates concerned being no-shows!
