Noida: Based on a complaint regarding money extortion from Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, three employees of his company were arrested on October 23. The trio has been booked for extortion and threatening the Paytm founder of leaking private information.
The arrested Paytm employees also includes a woman who reportedly, was secretary to Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
They had threatened to damage the reputation of the company as well, it is said.
Apart from the trio, a person named Rohit Chomal, who is a resident of Kolkata, is also accused of making extortion calls to Vijay’s brother Ajay Shekhar Sharma.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma said that some of the personal data associated with the company were stolen and that the accused had demanded Rs 20 Crore for not having the information leaked.
An FIR is registered in the Sector 20 police station and further investigations are on.
The trio is booked under IPC sections 381 (Theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master), 384 (Punishment for extortion), 386 (Extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt), 408 (Criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 120 B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy).
Charges under the IT Act have also been registered.
