People pay their last respects to Jayalalithaa at Rajaji Hall

Chennai: A steady stream of people are paying their last respects to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J. Jayalalithaa who died here on Monday.

The 68-year-old Jayalalithaa, who was in Apollo Hospitals since September 22, suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday and died on Monday at 11.30 p.m. Jayalalithaa’s body was shifted to her residence at Poes Garden on Tuesday.

After performance of the last ceremonial rites as per tradition her body was shifted to Rajaji Hall for people to pay their last respects to the departed leader.

Kerala declares holiday on Tuesday

The Kerala government declared a holiday on Tuesday to mourn the demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. All government offices and educational institutions will remain closed.
