Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Police said on Monday that they have cracked the Snapdeal executive Dipti Sarna abduction case and arrested five persons. One of the accused is said to have had close relations with the Sarna family.

The police will be holding a press conference later during the day to give further details in the case. However, media reports have said that the mastermind behind Dipti’s abduction was one Devendra.

Devendra, who belongs to Sonipat in Haryana, is said to have a criminal record and has spent time in jail as well. Media reports have described him as a psycho with a criminal bent of mind.

He was reportedly deeply in love with the 23-year-old Snapdeal employee and wanted to marry her.

He had planned to take Dipti to Nepal and start a new life with her as he felt that she was the “made for her”.

Dipti was unaware of the unwanted attention she has attracted from the criminal.

Prior to abducting Dipti on February 10, while she was on her way home in an auto from Vaishali Metro Station, Devendra had closely monitored her movements for over a month to plan the crime.

Dipti had managed to flee from her captors in Haryana’s Karnal on Feb 12 and called-up her father Narendra Sarna from an unknown mobile number that she was on a train to Delhi and asked him to pick her up from the station. Her kidnappers had left her unharmed.

Her father went to the New Delhi Railway station without informing the police. This was despite the police launching a massive manhunt to trace Dipti.

More details about the case are expected to emerge in the police briefing.
