New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday, said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should quit the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and back Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav as the new CM.

It can be recalled that just yesterday, Nitish Kumar won a fourth term as CM of Bihar, although the numbers were greatly diminished. The Janata Dal United won 43, while the BJP won 74.

Taking to Twitter, Singh said that the BJP has reduced Kumar’s stature with its strategy in Bihar. “BJP is like a vine that takes the support of another tree and flourishes while the tree dries. Nitish ji, Lalu Yadav and you fought together and he went to jail. Give up the BJP-RSS ideology and bless Tejashwi. Don’t let this vine-like BJP grow in Bihar,” he wrote.

Singh also advised Kumar to enter national politics and leave Bihar behind writing, “Nitish ji, Bihar has become small for you. You should join national politics. Don’t let the Union’s policy of ”divide and rule” adapted from the British thrive. Help all socialists believe in the secular ideology. Please consider.”

The RJD, led by Tejashwi Yadav emerged as the single-largest party with 75 seats. However, his alliance fell short of the majority mark of 122 in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, as the Congress only won 19 of the 70 seats in which it contested.
