New Delhi: Following US President Donald Trump’s refusal of union government’s invite to be the chief guest of the Republic Day 2019, President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa will be invited, sources in the Centre have informed.
As per the tradition, every year a foreign leader is invited as the chief guest for the Republic Day.
In the year 2015, the then US President Barack Obama was invited and in the year 2016, and the then President of France, François Hollande as chief guests. Both had participated in the event.
