Agra: An accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway claimed the lives of at least 6 students and one teacher after a UP Roadways bus ran over them. The incident occurred near Uttar Pradesh’s Kanauj on Monday, June 11.
Three other students, who were also involved in the accident, are in critical condition and have been admitted to a hospital.
The driver escaped soon after the accident fearing his life, and is yet to be found.
The students, who were on a tour, were on their way to Haridwar, when their tour bus ran out of fuel. The students stood on the side of the road while their bus was getting refueled from another bus, when a roadways bus crashed into them.
State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has promised a sum of Rs 2 lakh for the family members of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those who were injured.
