New Delhi: Stating that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were a threat to the security of Karnataka, first-time Member of Parliament from Bharatiya Janata Party Tejasvi Surya, on Wednesday, July 10, urged that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) should be extended to Karnataka and Bengaluru as well.
Speaking at the Lok Sabha, Tejasvi Surya, MP for Bengaluru South constituency, reportedly said that illegal immigrants were a security threat to Karnataka, and a terror module that operates from Bangladesh, was busted in Bengaluru on Tuesday. “I call upon the Centre to extend NRC to Karnataka and Bengaluru to weed out Bangladeshis who have come here illegally,” he added.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on Tuesday, busted a terror module of one Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Bengaluru, which reportedly carried out the 2014 blasts in Burdwan in West Bengal. Reportedly, the Bangladesh government had banned JMB in 2005 while India banned it in May this year.
