Pune: In a bid to attain the promised ‘Jannah’, a 16-year-old innocent teenager from Pune could have boarded the one-way flight to Syria to become a ‘Jihadi’ bride for the Islamic State fighters. But, thanks to the alert Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra, this bright convent educated student’s bid was thwarted.

The Class XI students was interrogated by the ATS after monitoring her movement over the last several days and the interrogation revealed that she was so committed to the terror group that she was ready to carry out the ISIS directives.

According to the ATS, the minor girl got attracted to the ISIS ideology after watching a documentary on television and subsequently started regularly monitoring news on Al Jazeera channel.

She then contacted over 200 young persons from different countries over internet to find out more about joining the IS. Finally, she was reportedly called to Syria for medical education and for further initiation.

As per sources, the girl underwent drastic transformation once she got influenced by the IS ideologies. It is believed that she turned very religious, gave up wearing jeans and started donning ‘burqa’.

“Even her family members noticed the change in her and felt disturbed,” say sources.

The girl is now undergoing a de-radicalisation programme with the help of her family members and community religious leaders, who are fully cooperating with with the police.
