New Delhi: The overall time for porting from one network service to another has been reduced to 48 hours from 96 hours.
For validation, the subscriber now has to have cleared ‘outstanding dues’ towards the existing telecom service provider as per the normal billing cycle for postpaid connections. Mobile number portability (MNP) can be applied only after a minimum stay of 90 days on the existing provider.
No ongoing requests should be pending on the number to be ported, whether for change of ownership of mobile number, or any binding exit clause to be fulfilled by the subscriber in the subscriber agreement.
The porting of the mobile number should not be prohibited by the court of law, and the mobile number sought to be ported not be sub-judice.
Once the user account is validated, the unique porting code (UPC) will be issued to the user within 5 minutes of placing the request.
