domo M 2952020New Delhi: Top government sources have denied the claim made by US President Donald Trump of having a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the China issue.

Trump, on Thursday said that he had a talk with PM Modi and Modi is not in a good mood on what is going on in China. The remark came when the US President reiterated his offer to mediate between India and China on what he called the Big Conflict’.

Indian and Chinese soldiers have been locked in a face-off in Ladakh since early May. The tension came into sharp focus after reports of clashes between the soldiers of both sides in the Pangong Lake region on May 5 and May 6.

Now, the top government sources have said that there has not been any interaction between the two leaders recently, while the last conversation happened between the two on April 4, 2020, over the subject of Hydroxychloroquine.

The Ministry of External Affairs has already made it clear that they are directly in touch with China through established mechanisms and diplomatic contacts.

“India is engaged with Chinese side to peacefully resolve it. Our engagement on the diplomatic front continues both in Delhi as well as in Beijing. India and China have engagements both at the military level as well as the diplomatic level. The two nations have signed several protocols on maintaining peace and tranquility at the border and there are many agreements,” Anurag Srivastava, a spokesperson of the foreign ministry is quoted in NDTV.
