West Bengal: During the ‘Martyrs Day’ rally in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the ongoing violence in Manipur, the Bilkis Bano case, and the wrestlers’ sexual harassment cases. She accused the BJP of failing to uphold their ‘Beti Bachao’ (Save the Daughter) slogan, suggesting that it has now transformed into ‘Beti Jalao’ (Burn the Daughter). Banerjee expressed solidarity with the people of Manipur and condemned the release of accused individuals on bail in the Bilkis Bano and wrestlers’ harassment cases.

Addressing the crowd of Trinamool Congress workers, she emphasized that the women of the country will remove BJP from power in the upcoming elections. Banerjee stated that the Trinamool Congress doesn’t seek power for itself but wants the current BJP regime to be replaced. She also declared that all protests against the central government will be conducted under the banner of the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A.

Additionally, Senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee announced a massive protest in Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) against the BJP-led central government’s actions of blocking funds for Bengal under various schemes, including MGNREGA. He asserted that the entire country resonates with the belief that the BJP will be ousted, and the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A. will form the next government in 2024. The protest is planned to take place outside Krishi Bhavan in Delhi.
