Noida: Five men allegedly dragged a woman and her minor daughter out of their car and then garg-raped near Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh here on Friday. The horror came to light after one of the family members of the victims informed the police.
On Friday night, when the woman from Noida and her daughter were travelling to Shahjahanpur in UP with her family, the gang waylaid them near Bulandshahr. As the car stopped, the group of five men allegedly dragged the family to a nearby field and looted their cash, jewellery and mobile phones. They then allegedly tied the men of the family with ropes and raped the woman and her daughter, a senior police officer from Bulandshahr said.
One of the family members, who managed to untie the ropes, reported the matter to the police the next morning. The culprits are yet to be arrested. A special team has been formed to nab the accused.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Police have detained 15 people on Saturday morning. “We have important clues,” Laxmi Singh, inspector general of police of the Meerut Range, said.
Vaibhav Krishan, SSP of Bulandshahar, suspended Kotwali Dehat station officer Ram Sain Singh for dereliction of duty. The DIG, Meerut Range, later visited the scene of crime. Police suspect the involvement of Bawaria (gypsy) gang in the crime.
