Kalaburagi: In a major crackdown on corruption, a Second Division Assistant (SDA) named Sharanaappa was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh at the Kalgi Tahsildar’s office on Tuesday.
The bribe was allegedly demanded from a contractor, Anaveerayya, in return for approving a permit related to a completed cement concrete (CC) road construction project. Based on the contractor’s formal complaint, Lokayukta officials set up a sting operation.
Sharanaappa was nabbed on the spot while receiving the bribe money, confirming the allegations. He was immediately taken into custody.
The operation was executed under the direction of Lokayukta SP B.K. Umesh. The trap team was led by DySP Geeta Benal and Inspector Rajashekhar, with staff members Basavaraj M.G., Ranuji, Pradeep, Faizmuddin, Santoshamma, Mallinath, and Mallikarjun playing key roles.
