My students have grown to be like my family: Yogitha

Dubai: The 19th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was held on Saturday April 23 at 6.30 pm IST.

The guest teacher for the evening was Yogitha Navananda. The special guests of the evening were her students, Prajwini Rao, Software engineer at Accenture, Bengaluru, Ajith Poojary Bedra, Mechanic, Music Instrument player and Song Composer, Ankitha, Homemaker and Akshatha, Manager at Samaja Mandira Sabha (R), Moodabidri.

The event host was Kiran Nirkan.

Through teacher-student interaction, the series strives to highlight teachers and their impact on students. On youtube.com/newskarnataka, the show was streamed live.

Kiran Nirkan introduced the guests and welcomed them. Yogitha Navananda reminisced her 24 years of career experience with NewsKarnataka. “I getting an opportunity to become a teacher in itself is a memorable happening for me. Further, in these 24 years of my teaching experience my students have become like my family members and I am in touch with them frequently either face to face or otherwise. From the beginning of my career, my colleagues too have been supportive towards me. I have 15 more years of service and hope to build this family of students, further,” said Yogitha.

Student Ajith Poojary Bedra expressing his experience with teacher Yogitha Navananda said, “My mother gave me a life. How to lead that life is taught by Yogitha teacher. Only doctors know the prescription to treat the patient, and in the same way Yogitha teacher knows the way to reach out to her students,” he expressed.

Ankitha shared, “A smiling, well-dressed and enthusiastic face is the first thought that flashes our minds when thinking of Yogitha teacher. It is because of her I succeeded in fulfilling my childhood dream of becoming a teacher.

Akshatha said, “With Yogitha teacher we can open up easily and have a conversation, that’s what we love about her,” she said recalling the way teacher and her colleagues got them back to their school.

Prajwini Rao said, “Like our mothers at home, Yogitha teacher was our mother at school. The pampering given by Yogitha teacher on the first day in class post changing of school was a confident-booster, ” she averred.

Expressing the role of teachers in the evolution of a generation the students said, “Teachers are the best examples for ‘How a candle can light other candles’.

Both teacher and students appreciated the ‘Namaste Teacher’ Initiative. Students expressed the pride and gratitude in being students of Yogitha Navananda.

Expressing gratitude and good wishes to the guests Kiran Nirkan signed off.
